The Faeries

Three faeries sat on Bridie’s head as she walked, Silverfoot, Brightlight and Melchoir making little braids in hair. They sat quietly chatting about how they would be famous for helping to rid the land of the dragonspawn. Though Brightlight did admit to being a little afraid and not really very brave.
Melchoir answered Brightlight’s fears with probably one of the wisest things Bridie had ever heard. She told Brightlight that bravery and courage were not about being unafraid, they were about being afraid and acting anyway. She told Brightlight the greatest of heroes were always a little afraid but it was how they chose to act in the face of their fear which made them stand out from the rest.
